Any data or graphics showing Terrorism levels ?

I was wondering, after seeing the “smoking gun” thread if there are figures, data or graphics showing clearly the increase or not of terrorist attacks worldwide ?

I figure if post 9/11 the increase was mild and post Iraq it was much greater than things would point out to Bush being a motivator of terrorists… not dissuader.

The State Department does an annual report cataloging incidents of international terrorism. The report for 2003 has not yet been done, but the number of attacks dropped from 2001 to 2002.

Thanks… its US govt… but still interesting. Why don’t they have 2003 yet ?

I think they have a pretty loose definition of terrorist attack too. The numbers for Latin America I bet are mostly Colombia related. By the figures one would imagine Latin America as the most dangerous place on earth.

The report is published every spring, typically late April. 2003 figures will be available then.

Here is a description of the terrorist acts that went into the 2002 reporting numbers. I have a hard time finding any incidents that are included because of a “loose” definition of terrorism.

Yes, but it also dropped from 2000 to 2001…
