'Cause it sounds damned interesting, and I’d like a firsthand report.
The Mount Washington Auto Road hosts the inaugural Mount Washington Alternative Energy Days on June 17-18.
Mount Washington Alternative Energy Days is an exhibition for consumers looking to reduce their energy use and carbon footprint featuring alternative energy experts and vendors. The event will include a dinner, keynote speaker and the highlight of the two-day event — the Alternative Vehicle Regatta featuring alternatively powered vehicles of all types on the Mount Washington Auto Road and on display at the base.
Vehicles on display will include Moonbeam, 100 MPG gasoline – Jory Squibb; 1962 MG Midget, solar powered – John Howe; 1959 Farmall Cub, on board solar powered – John Howe; 2005 Ford F-350, biodiesel – Dennis K. Burke, Inc; Raven electric motorcycle – Charlie MacArthur; Diesel Smart Car – Ross Mavis; and other vehicles, including hybrids, a steam car and a greaser.
I’d really like details on the steamer.
Back around 1982 or 1983 I thought about buying a Midget and converting it into a hybrid. IIRC this involved finding a ‘jet engine starter motor’, a Kubota tractor engine, and about a dozen batteries.
