Any Dopers Trade Bootleg CD-R's?

I’m trying to get in to this practice, but my collection is still really small. As of now, here’s what I have to trade. I’m mostly interested in Grateful Dead and Phish shows, but anything would be cool.

Grateful Dead Live @ Nassau 3-28-90
Grateful Dead Live @ Cornell 5-8-77
Grateful Dead Live @ Somewhere Sometime, I don’t know.
Phish Live @ Atlanta 7-4-99
Dave Matthews Band Live @ Woodstock
Aphex Twin + Autechre Live @ Vancouver
Pink Floyd Live @ Pompeii 3-23-72

Let me know if you want to make a swap!

Thanks,

Lucky Charms

I know the Dead is OK with this practice. What about the others on your list?

On the Straight Dope Message Board, we do not advocate the violation of the property rights of musicians.

Please modify your original post (with a new one; editing is disabled) to reflect that.

Additional posts should also keep that in mind.

Thank you.

OK, I know that the Dead, Phish and the DMB are a-okay with this practice, in fact it accounts for much of their fan base, I’d say.

I (perhaps erroneously) would assume that Floyd would be ok with taping their shows, but that’s only based on the fact that most of the big acid rock acts seem to be.

As for Aphex Twin, I have no idea how he feels about taping, which is only natural because he hasn’t done a live show in like 10 years. He regularly states how much he hates performing live, and therefore I can’t imagine he’d mind one of those shows circulating, it’s not like he’s trying to keep a market.

Sorry if I broke the rules, I do realize that those last two are iffy. If anyone knows the answer to those, then post it, otherwise, the offer stands.

The offer still stands on The Dead, Phish and DMB shows, too.

Well, just to make it official and all…

Lucky Charms is correct - Phish and DMB are ok with mp3 swapping and downloading, and pretty much agree with the above statement. Some other bands that I know of which allow trading, and which are in the same genre, are Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, moe., Steve Kimock, and any group involving former Grateful Dead members.

I have a cool binaural(super surround sound) recording of a guy walking down Shakedown Street. It is really interesting to listen to because you can close your eyes and it puts you right back in time. Email me and let me know if you want a copy. Hell, I’ll just send it to you. Make sure you listen to it with headphones.

Lucky Charms,

Actually, the file is absolutely enormous. I will need your ICQ# because my email service isn’t really equipped to handle files that big. If you don’t have ICQ(free download) you should get it because it is a good way to transfer files like music.

Does anyone know how the hell to get to the music on http://www.astrojams.com ?

It’s so highly praised for having a great archive and all this, yet I see no way to get to music or content beyond general news. Aaaaahh!!

Let me know if you do.
