Any eRepublik players out there?

I’m fine with whatever makes sense. I’d rather not start a business knowing that we’ll never be profitable, as that seems to defeat the purpose. But if weapons in country X or iron in country Y or whatever seems promising, then let’s do it. I will note, though, that being in a country (not necessarily region) with a Q4/Q5 hospital is a big plus, as it will make our worker citizens healthier and, thus, more productive.

I think we might decide which approach we’re initially going for: a “welfare state” for dopers where we employ primarily dopers and pay them better-than-average wages/benefits, OR a company that pays a market wage and attempts to turn a profit. I think those are conflicting paths.

I think it best for three or four people to have the password, so that someone is available pretty much daily to address any disasters/emergencies. I’m not concerned about getting banned by doper actions.

Weapons in India sounds like a plan. Having the company in the same region as the high iron product also sounds like a plan.

I won’t be moving to Indonesia at this point, but I’m willing to help out with the general manager duties.

received and filled out the form. waiting for the email confirmation from erepub. Name there is also CapnPitt

And with wars or trainings on a regular basis. I checked and Indonesia is engaged in two battles at the moment.

Yes, I’d rather have the company being profitable too. But the best we can do is guesstimate, and we won’t know for sure until we actually try. By the way, I noticed that the IDR rose significantly during the last two days, making Indonesian prices less competitive. But we’ll always be dependant of this kind of variations (currency exchange, plenty of battles or a deplorable state of peace and harmony, etc…)

Regarding Iron, I read yet another comment about Q1 raw material companies being not profitable on the main forum (the guy stated that Q1 were money losers, Q2 could turn a small profit, and only Q3 were really profitable), so I think we should forget raw materials as long as we aren’t rolling in dough and able to create a Q3 right away.

I hadn’t really thought about employing dopers at high wages. I had thought about keeping some money to buy products at cheap prices and selling them back to other dopers in other countries, or possibly giving them to dopers who start playing. Besides, not everybody will be willing to move to another country (for instance, I’m now quite integrated into eFrance life, and if I move, it will be for Argentina in order to practice my Spanish in a not too big/not too small country) and we have different skills (taking again my example, I’ve reached a skill 3 in land, so I’m not going to start again in a manufacturing company).

If the company is profitable, I assume we could offer a somewhat higher salary to some dopers willing to work in the company, though. At least, we could expect them to be faithful employees.

** Dosipede ** seems to be willing to manage the company at least part time, I’m willing to keep doing some maths if you want to, **tr0psn4j ** volunteered to be the “human resources” guy(*), and if it were up to me, I’d have started the company two days ago, since we won’t ever know if the idea will work if we don’t try. I’m impatient like that. But you created the org, and with ** RandMcNally ** gave the most money, so we need both of you to make a decision, IMO.

Regarding profit sharing, I’ve no opinion. In particular since at this point, the issue is moot. I’d rather be in favour of reinvesting to create another company, or upgrade the first one, or buy an export license, or something like that, but if you want to redistribute profits, I’ll go with whatever you decide, and whatever method people want to use to redistribute them.

(*) By the way, I sought the Indonesian forum for entirely unrelated reasons, and it’s in fact open only to Indonesians and diplomats. Non-Indonesians meet on the IRC channel (#erepindo on rizon.net) which is English-speaking and apparently quite active.

ETA : In any case, the org will need a Q1 ticket to move to wherever the company will be created. It seems that those are cheaper in the USA right now. So maybe an eAmerican could send one to be reimbursed?

Also, I noticed that ** Nicolas Bourbaki ** had donated plenty of food and ** tr0psn4j ** 0.43 IDR. Do some people need Q1 food? Do ** Nicolas Bourbaki ** needs some money for the food, and how much? Are the 0.43 IDR intended for a particular purpose?

The game wouldn’t let me sell off less then 1 IDR so I just donated it to our IDR based org.

I regularly buy lower amounts, and I’m pretty sure I sold fraction of units too…
Does anybody know who is Darius Aurelio, an ePortuguese who wants to befriend eDOPE?

For whatever reason, it wasn’t letting me do it with that. Figured it would be easier to donate it.

I think we should create the weapons company and reinvest the profits until we’re able to become a major player. I think that having a group of players all pooling money and time will allow us to become rather important. It should be fun to try and control a small part of the eworld.

Right now I’m starting on working my way up through the National Guard so I should be able to eventually get in position to buy weapons from us. If anyone else can start making progress through their militaries we can use that to secure some contracts.

I’m in, and good for at least 5 gold once I get the game figured out. I’m assuming that’ll be around the 6th level bonus time.

So what are we waiting for? and when will we get this started?

I’ll do it, provided I understand what we’re doing:

creating a Q1 weapons company in Indonesia. Correct?

If so, I’ll create it this afternoon. My understanding is that the region is unimportant, as the company can buy iron from anywhere in the country, and employees can live anywhere in the country. Correct?

For company name, my thoughts were:

  • VanDeLay Industries
  • Fighting Ignorants Gun Co.
  • Teeming Millions Armaments (or Ordnance)
  • Mom’s Friendly Gun Co.

Any others?

Official Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifles. Is there a limit on length?

I like VanDeLay Industries, as long as we don’t hire that bald guy. There’s also Kramerica Industries.

Any of those would work I suppose. I’m not sure what VanDeLay references though.

Officially, I’ll vote for “Fighting Ignorants Gun Co.” but, again, they all sound good to me.

I like Fighing Ignorants as well. Yes, all of you statements about the company are correct in my understanding.

Rand, I just refunded your money I can’t click and drag on my iphone so I can’t smuggle items. I got on my parents computer for a little bit this weekend and was able to upload an avatar but I can only do the basics.

I have a problem :
I received a message apparently from eRepublik admins stating that my account might have been hacked. I’m further worried that my email itself could have been (see here.
As a result, I suppose that my logging history might be investigated by the admins, so I’m not going to log in under the eDOPE account until this issue is sorted out. And I would like ** Raza ** to change the password (too bad), even though it shouldn’t appear nor in the eRepublik account nor in my email.

Also, if ** Chessic Sense ** is reading this post, could he read his ingame mail?

Damn, good luck.

eDope password changed. I will send a SDMB PM with the password to whomever requests it.

Fighting Ignorants Gun Co. has been:

  • created
  • given some gold, some of which was converted into IDR
  • some iron bought
  • job offers for level 0 and level 1 employees posted at market rates

I will join the company myself once I am eligible to resign tomorrow, unless that seems counter-productive. I’m a level 3 manufacturer, and I think I’m currently getting 8 IDR/day.

Update :
The ADMIN_EREPUBLIK (with the eRepublik logo) account that had sent me the message stating my account might have been hacked and to send my account infos has now been permanently banned. And now, when I look more closely at its name, I notice that the capped “I” in the name are actually lower case “l”.

So, that was phising (is that the correct name/spelling?) , apparently. Be warned!

Fortunately, I had reported the message just in case and sent a message via a contact form instead of replying directly, still just in case. But frankly, I believed the message to be legit, and probably related to either me having registered under an assumed name and recently asked the admins to change it to my real name or to the fact that I’m babysitting a second account and could have been flagged as using multiple accounts, or finally the fact that exactly at the same time, I had weird issues with my email.
Now, I’m wondering why they’re trying this with broke beginners

There’s an eRepublik topic on this; phishing:
