Any "evil twin" mixups in real life?

Two identical twins at the local middle school were suspended last year. Seems one of them really hated math. The brother happened to have study hall the same time the math hater had math. So they switched classes. This went on for several days before they were caught. The boys told some friends, who told some friends, and it ended up reaching a teacher.

How’d they prove it?

Yes, and it would be relatively easy.

Any cases of one twin murdering the other, then assuming his identity?

Probably one of them bragged about it to their friends.

That was a plot point in one of Heinlein’s novels.

no arrest or “crime”, but my twin sister and I switched in for each other repeatedly in grade one. Our names started with different letters so our mother had sewed a T on all my clothes and an S on her clothes, but we would go to the washroom at the start of the day we wanted to switch and change clothes and answer to the other person’s name, sit in her desk, write her name on all papers. It took our teacher 7 months to discover we were doing it.

I remember when the story of the alleged attempted murder plot by Jeena Han came out, there was a lot made of her intending to assume her sister Sunny’s identity, but most of the articles I’ve found online don’t mention it. This one does: http://www.beloitdailynews.com/beloit-daily-news---monday-november/article_0c189338-66c1-5870-9cbe-181381229f15.html

It was an interesting story because the girls had been co-valedictorians and seemingly close as kids. There was a lot going on between them when this all went down. The cops had been called out previously because of their fighting. Jeena was a jail escapee at the time and there were too teenaged boys involved as well. I believe Jeena maintains that she never had any intention to kill her sister. Here’s another article with a bit more background info: Twin Gets 26 Years to Life for Murder Plot

It’s actually directly the opposite - Gallagher sued his brother to prevent him from using the Sledge-o-matic in his act, or cultivating an appearance too close to his.

The math imposter was questioned in class. The teacher called him by the name of the kid who wasn’t supposed to be there. After his surprised look, the teacher explained that she knew what had been going on. The kid fessed up.

I posted about a case in Germany three years ago. It was proven that (at least) one of two identical brothers had committed a very lucrative burglary. English-language article. The prosectution file was officially closed.

My cousins used to do this. You’ll never guess how the rest of the family refers to those girls.

That was Castor and Pollux in “The Rolling Stones.”

Or Time For The Stars

Yeah, I just figured I’d avoid the minor spoiler.

My neighbor has fraternal twins named Marlon and Malcolm. It was idiotic. Everyone, including her mother, just calls her Dee-Dee.

They’ve got nothing on these two.

Not twins, but no less confusing, especially since both became NFL wide receivers.

Jerk of a father. Although has nothing on George Foreman.

I was married to a lady. She had some serious issues that came out during our 4 year marriage. She divorced me. No kids (thank God!) and no communication. She was still angry and bitter when I tried to talk to her 2 years after our divorce.

However, her identical twin sister is still one of my best friends!
