I’m looking for a good live version of the song “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?”
I have a copy of the studio version, but I’m looking for a live version. It should be available on CD, preferably on a major release (i.e., non-bootleg).
Any recommendations on what releases I should check out?
I’m a fan!
I have to look on my hard drive to see the album names. I left it at a friend’s house and plan to get it tomorrow. Pm me if I forget to get back.
Holy crap! That guy is still around? I was a big fan when Cars came out. I prolly still have the cassette somewhere. Man, just when you least expect it, 1979 comes rushing back.
Here’s a more recent aol video live in Sydney from last month.
Here’s his discography on wiki. With a quick glance, I spot at least one live version there but I’m sure with some digging around there you’d uncover more.
I have almost every single one of his studio albums, 18 total.
He’s probably my oldest and favoritist musician. I stuck with him even through his sucky 80’s period. I’ve always admired him for sticking to his music despite the critics and chart rankings, largely avoiding the booze & drugs lifestyle and instead hanging out with mum & pop (the last CD I ordered directly off his site was packaged by his mum) and getting an acrobatic pilot’s license (instructor, too).
Yup, I’m kind of a fan.
Search “Gary Numan Interview” on Youtube. I like the one he did with Graham Norton a couple years back.
Cool, thanks; I’ll poke around and see if I can find any of those discs.
(There’s this friend of mine whose musical horizons stretch from Bollywood to…Bollywood. So I’m working on putting together a sampler CD of songs you can dance to that are from various genres that don’t come from the Indian subcontinent. I want to include Gary Numan but I’m not a huge fan of the studio version of “AFE”. A while back, I heard a live version that I quite liked but I don’t know what album it was from.)
