I was just thinking that of all the entertainments I’ve enjoyed this holiday weekend – the movies, the TV shows, the websites, etc., the one that has made the biggest impression and enjoyed the most by far was reading Jim Silke’s “Betty Page, Queen of the Nile” graphic novel. It was huge fun, lots of sexy, naked and almost naked Bettie Page, and lots of B-movie hi-jinks involving flying belts, crocodiles, mummies, Cleopatra and such. Damn, it would make a fun movie.
I already have several issues of “Cavewoman” comics, which I would LOVE to see in graphic novel format. So my question is, are there any other series that feature sexy, sultry, often half-naked or completely naked babes involved in B-movie kinda shenanigans, available in Graphic Novel form?
BTW, I don’t care for vampire or death-themed stuff at all. I don’t care how naked Vampirella or Lady Death or Dawn get, the storylines they are involved in bore me. So you can strike that boring goth depresso stuff off the list.
Druuna? I don’t care for the gore, but it has a SF B-movie feel. And there are shenanigans. Boy, are there shenanigans.
Milo Manara’s Click! and Butterscotch series inspired some dismal skinemax flicks, but the actual books are great - he’s a very good artist. His female take on Gulliver’s Travels (Gullivera) is brilliant, especially if you can get the uncensored Euro editions.
Not sure if this is quite what you’re looking for, really, but Alan Moore’s Lost Girls is pretty hot, in a traditionally erotic, yet explicit, way.
I’ll be checking out Lost Girls for sure. I would be interesting to see how Alan Moore handles erotica. Heh. What I’ve seen of Melinda Gribble’s artwork does not leave me with the feeling that she groks erotica from a male POV, but
Druuna looks physically appealing, but the article in Wikipedia makes her sound like she wanders around a postapocalyptic wasteland getting anally raped a lot but not much caring. Can’t say she sounds like a fun person. But I’ll check it out anyway, Wikipedia being what it is.
