Any information on William L. Chester, creator of Kioga?

Where do you turn when Google, Lycos and AltaVista let you down? The collective knowledge of the Straight Dope!

Does anyone have an information on a man named William L. Chester? In the 1930s he wrote a series of adventure stories for BLUE BOOK magazine about a Tarzanlike character named Kioga; the first of these books was called HAWK OF THE WILDERNESS.

I havent read them, but apparently theyre pretty darn good. All I can find in my reference book is that Chester was an American, born in 1907.

Any information would be appreciated.

Neat thread -
" Kioga of the wilderness" was one of my favorite books when I was a wee little nipper.
My [ well thumbed ] paperback copy was published by DAW books in 1976 -
I checked with amazon.com and got the following result using “Kioga” as my search parameter -

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1557420467/qid=1069812912/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-1970097-5043214?v=glance&s=books

Under “William L. Chester” I found the following:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0879972807/qid=1069813176/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_4/002-1970097-5043214?v=glance&s=books

I hope that this is some useful info -
Good luck in your search -

Ooops - Posted too soon - I will see if I can dig up my copy and check for any Bio information on the author -

I don’t have any info on Chester, but I have read the Kioga books. I found 'em kinda underwhelming–perfectly fine old-time adventure, but nothing to write home about. You might as well get them if you’re bored and they’re cheap, but frankly there’s better stuff to spend your reading time and dollars on.
