Any issue with cheering the visitors at Mets games?

A group of us from DC are planning to go to opening day to see Nats at Mets. Any issues with cheering for DC? A friend of mine got stomped at a Phillies game, so I don’t want to take any chances. We’re not haters, just some rubes from DC looking to cheer on the Nats.

No issues for the most part. Of course, there’s the odd chance that you run into a drunken asshole, but that’s probably true everywhere. I’ve worn my Yankee jerseys there a few times.

Thanks, Go Nats.

I’ve always worn my Yankees cap when I’ve gone to Mets games with my brothers, who are Mets fans. I’ve never had any trouble, even when the Yanks were the visiting team and beat the Mets (except from my brothers;))

I haven’t seen visiting fans be harassed beyond a little trash-talking at either Yankees or Mets games unless they were being obnoxious.

I always wear my Yankee gear when visiting Shea…excuse me, Citifield.

I was at Shea Stadium a few years back watching a Mets/Phillies game, and a fight almost broke out – between a Yankees fan and a Red Sox fan!

It’s a day game, it’s opening day, I highly doubt you’d have much trouble. The Mets aren’t going to do anything this year. I’d say the worst might be some teasing since the Nats were so disappointing last season.

There isn’t enough history for there to be a rivalry. Not as much drinking during a weekday day game. It’s often chilly that early in the year which cuts down on the rambunctiousness. The Mets suck. I don’t think it will be a problem overall. Other than the before mentioned random drunk guy.

I would not do the same in philly.
