That’s an interesting thought. I’m doing research for a friend, who partly wants to market her quilts, and partly thinks some people might rather buy the puzzle version. There are maker-spaces near her, but i don’t know if she wants to deal with learning to program a puzzle cut. And she still needs the high quality print job to print her photo, and a way to affix it to the backing.
(By the way, if you are thinking plywood, it’s actually somewhat challenging to obtain plywood of high enough quality to cut into jigsaw puzzles. Most plywood has small internal voids.)
I like jigidi because I just don’t have any physical space I can use for the meatspace puzzles. I like working them when I’m listening to the evening MSNBC lineup to keep my blood pressure in check.
Ubehebe? It would be challenging with so little differentiation in colors.
I enjoy doing jigidi puzzles, but how do you do larger puzzles on a laptop ?
I limit myself to fewer than 100 pieces, and i start by separating all the pieces on
screen so i can see them all.
The place is called Venus Puzzle. I got it over five years ago, so I don’t know if they are still in business. The picture was taken using a cheap digital camera, and I had to use Photoshop to improve the image some, but given that the image quality is really good. The pieces and cut of the puzzle were good also - not the very best I’ve ever seen, but not cheap.
The way pixels seems to work is that artists sign up, upload their art, and check off what kind of products they want the art to be put on. With 12 million puzzles available, the website clearly does not monitor for copyright violations or violations of taste. The deepfakes in question were no doubt AI generated. I didn’t investigate to know for sure, but I’m pretty certain. As I said, the quality of the puzzle I bought was excellent.
That’s the one. The picture I took has just enough sky, the crater wall has strata showing so is not hard, and there is enough white sand on the gray floor to be reasonable. I use the picture as my wallpaper, and have never gotten tired of it. Best picture I’ve ever taken.
