Any major U.S. cities not being "Occupied"?

Are there any major U.S. cities w/o an “Occupy” demonstration? (major=top 100 in population)

Buffalo has had one-off demonstrations, but no rolling “occupations”. Not sure if that counts.

Refining the definition-A CONTINUOUS demonstration.

Wikipedia has a list of cities that have had protests. Others can debate how accurate/exhaustive it is… I ran a cross-check between that list and the top-100 cities by population and came up with this list of un-occupied cities. The number indicates their rank in population. make of it what you will.

38 Mesa, Arizona
39 Virginia Beach, Virginia
50 Arlington, Texas
54 Anaheim, California
56 Aurora, Colorado
67 Saint Paul, Minnesota
71 Plano, Texas
77 Chula Vista, California
80 Chandler, Arizona
81 Laredo, Texas
85 Baton Rouge, Louisiana
87 Garland, Texas
88 Glendale, Arizona
90 Hialeah, Florida
91 Chesapeake, Virginia
92 Scottsdale, Arizona
93 North Las Vegas, Nevada
94 Irving, Texas
95 Fremont, California
98 Rochester, New York
99 San Bernardino, California

Many of those communities are mega-suburbs.

38 Mesa, Arizona (Phoenix)
50 Arlington, Texas (Dallas)
54 Anaheim, California (LA)
56 Aurora, Colorado (Denver)
71 Plano, Texas (Dallas)
77 Chula Vista, California (San Diego)
80 Chandler, Arizona (Phoenix)
87 Garland, Texas (Dallas)
88 Glendale, Arizona (Phoenix)
90 Hialeah, Florida (Miami)
91 Chesapeake, Virginia (Norfolk)
92 Scottsdale, Arizona (Phoenix)
93 North Las Vegas, Nevada (las Vegas)
94 Irving, Texas (Dallas)
95 Fremont, California (San Jose)

In addition to that list, St. Paul has an Occupy Protest going on in Minneapolis.

Hey, we’ve got 'en in Little Rock, Arkansas.

I’m calling it “Occupied, With Vacancies”… pretty minor in the midwest.

I noticed on the Wiki link that Fairmont, Huntington and Morgantown, WV all had “Occupy” locations but didn’t list the one here in Charleston. I guess it wasn’t big enough for them.

I’m surprised that there’s any Occupy WV protests, considering the feelings of many people I’ve run in to around here that think the whole thing is just a bunch of freeloading, dirty hippies trying to piss the status quo off…

Meh.

I’m sure others are like this, but Fremont, CA is just a suburb of San Jose, and there is an Occupy San Jose going on. I would be surprised if anyone in Fremont would bother protesting there instead of San Jose.

Virginia Beach is right next to Norfolk, so presumably any protests in that area are going there. Atlantic beach towns are pretty desolate this time of year.

Detroit has one (that nobody seems to be paying any attention to). Chicago had a very brief occupation; the cops apparently decided they weren’t going to put up with it, and broke up the protest rather quickly.

No Occupiers in Chi-town? That’s gotta be the biggest city in the US without one, no?

Or maybe we just have to wait until football season is over…

The arrests didn’t break it up, just made folks move from Grant Park to the Board of Trade.

Not just that, but there are big Occupy movements in Oakland and San Francisco, which are both very close to Fremont as well.

Hialeah is for all intents and purposes a section of Miami. However, it’s dominated by Cuban emigres, and it’s the fourth most conservative city in America, so even if it wasn’t part of a conurbation it’s unlikely that it would have its own occupation.

Fremont does have a small occupy movement and it is not a suburb of San Jose! It’s not even in the same county as San Jose and is # 16 on a list of largest California cities by population. It is also just as close to Oakland as it is San Jose. Fremont shares the East Bay with Oakland while San Jose is in the South Bay. Just saying…

So? Bloomington is #5 on the list of largest Minnesota cities, and it’s absolutely a suburb of Minneapolis, and indeed St. Paul.

So? That does not make Fremont a suburb of San Jose, nor has it ever been considered one. Keep in mind that comparison is hardly notable considering Minnesota has a population of 5.3 million and California has a population of over 37 million.
