The original Halloween and the original The Thing.
And Dawn and her rarely seen friend sneaking out to meet up with some older boys they’re vampires!
Arsenic and Old Lace, is a must!
Our daughter MilliCal and my wife Pepper mill are working on MilliCal’s Halloween costume today. I was facing away from the TV when I heard the Walt Disney opening fanfare.
“You’re watching Hocus Pocus, aren’t you?” I asked immediately.
“Yes,” said MilliCal
“How did you know?” asked Pepper Mill
It’s Halloween. [MilliCal] alwayd watches Hocus Pocus at Halloween. And it’s the only Disney Halloween feature she likes with a Disney opening. She doesn’t watch The Legend of Sleepy Hollow or the Disney Halloween cartoons."
So there’s her entry. Right now she has Monster House on.
I’ve been watching bits of various Draculas and related films (Dracula’s Daughter), myself.
NOW they’re watching The Corpse Bride. The flapper costume is almost finished. I got roped into helping with it.
i don’t know what’s going on with me and the nightmare before christmas this year. i’ve watched it twice already, and i listen to the soundtrack every day on my drive to work. “this is halloween” has been in my head for about 3 weeks now with no sign of quitting.
I make the 2007 Trick R Treat film a yearly ritual. That movie IS Halloween!
Sorry for resurrecting a zombie…but in this season it is appropriate.
Started my yearly Halloween/horror fest this past weekend with Young Frankenstein, The Fly (original) and a couple Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror Episodes.
I always remember liking the Roseanne Halloween episodes, although I didn’t care for the show itself.
Strangely, I don’t ever think about the Walking Dead as something to be watched for Halloween…
But now I can’t decide what to do for this weekend…with a Friday the 13th in October, do I do a Friday the 13th marathon for Friday the 13th, or a Halloween Marathon?
Perhaps a marathon of the Halloween series on Friday the 13th and a Friday the 13th marathon on Halloween?
Bette Midlers I Put a Spell on You is one of my favorite movie songs.
Our Halloween tradition was Plan Nine from Outer Space.
Most years I try to watch Arsenic and Old Lace. I’m happily surprised others list this also. With my daughter off at college now, it is not as likely. One of the funniest movies ever made.
The only other tradition is I use to look forward to the Simpson’s Treehouse of Horrors.
I love all the Vincent Price horror movies. I also like watching the funny ones like:
The Ghost & Mr. Chicken - Don Knotts
Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein
Murder He Says - Fred MacMurray
Arsenic & Old Lace - Cary Grant
Scared Stiff - Lewis & Martin
“Last Man on Earth” w/Vincent Price. “The Night Stalker” w/Darren McGavin. The Thing is a good choice, too. “Incredible Shrinking Man”.
The Devil’s Rejects
Because who is and who isn’t a monster is just a matter of perspective.
Community season 2 episode 6–Epidemiology.
We hang this movie poster of The Haunting (1963) up on Oct. 1 each year (taking the place of the poster for All About Eve for a month) next to our television and watch the movie in the days (or rather, nights) leading to Halloween.
“… and whatever walked there, walked alone.”
If you have Half Life 2, its always fun to take a trip through Ravenhome.
I have always made sure to watch “The Howling” the 1st one and the “Evil Dead” also the 1st one. If anyone is interested there is a TV show that you can watch on Steam called “Ash vs. The Evil Dead”. It is a modern story about Ash and his encounters with the evil dead and it is actually is pretty good if your into that kind of thing.
A 1960 film with Christopher Lee (of course) that is listed as “City of the Dead” but in my youth was called “Horror Hotel”. Switching between present day and 17th century New England.
Used ro.love to watch Mad Monster Party on tv this time of year back in the early 70s, but haven’t seen it on in a long time. Seem to recall reading there was some licensing issue preventing it. Too bad!
