Any of you ever have a problem with a DVD that physically "buzzes"?

I’m sure the problem just has something to do with a physical error in the shape of the DVD or something. But my latest Netflix arrival does this weird thing when I put it in my DVD player where it causes the player to make a physical (i.e., not from the speakers) low pitched buzzing sound.

I can’t see anything on the DVD that would cause this to happen. But do DVDs ever accidentally get sent out with manufacturing errors that would add up to uneven weighting or something?

As far as I can tell, the DVD is scratch free.

(I can make the buzzing stop by putting something heavy on top of the player… but I think I’m just going to take the DVD out. )

Sounds like the DVD is slightly warped, causing a vibration when the disc spins. If you touch the player lightly when it’s buzzing can you feel it vibrating?

Yes, I forgot to mention that. I didn’t have to turn the TV off to determine the sound wasn’t coming from the speaker. The DVD player itself was vibrating. (Not visibly, but in a way detectable to touch.)

I’m probably asking for it by doing this, but once I realized I could make it stop audibly vibrating by putting something heavy on the player, I went ahead and watched the DVD anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

Everything seems okay.

Then I’m sticking with the slightly warped disk theory. If you’re curious you could try putting it on a flat surface to see if it touches on all sides
