Any of your realtives involved in important historical events

My mom’s side of the family has sworn for years that we are direct descendants of Gen. Richard Stoddard Ewell, who was pretty high up in the Confederate Army. I did a little research and found out that although he may have screwed up things for the CSA at Gettysburg, he did have many successes and was Stonewall Jackson’s right-hand man.

Unfortunately, I also found that apparently, Gen. Ewell had no children at all. So now we have no idea if we’re related to him, and if not, whose antique furniture we have.

My father says we’re related to Nathaniel Greene, but I don’t have much geneological information to figure out the lineage.

President James Buchanan is supposed to be back there somewhere too, but he didn’t have children either.

My father was in WWII. HE worked on MacArthur’s airplane. His father in WWI. (My father’s father, MacArthur’s father was in the Civil War.)
I consider myself lucky that I missed out on WWIII.
I touched someone who touched someone who touched Adolph Hitler. Not bad for a Jewish guy.

Not famous, but my great (multiplied 3 or 4 times) grandma had an affair with the Duke of York… And supposedly, one of my great (xwhatever) grandfathers was the discoverer of Canada Dry Ginger Ale, but he sold the right to a bottling company that’s got to hurt.
