Heh! I remember a handful of people who dubbed themselves the Warm Fuzzy Brigade, who welcomed newbies, and a contrasting group who called themselves the Cold Prickly Brigade and mocked the WFB a lot.
I’d completely forgotten the Warm Fuzzy Brigade! There were a bunch of groups like that weren’t there? Man I wish those were archived somewhere. Actually, no I don’t. I was young back then and probably had some really dumb opinions. I have dumb ones now too - don’t get it twisted. I just got better at shutting up lol
I don’t really count. I was on the AOL page to read the columns. I had been reading the SD since high school in the books then in the alt newspapers (DC’s City Paper). If I remember correctly I had a dumb question for Cecil and it told me to ask on the Board first. I think I did post a couple of things but didn’t stick around. I didn’t really get the point of message boards. Now that I think about it, I also had an insanely jealous wife who would have flipped out if she saw I was communicating with people (some might be women!) on the internet. I don’t remember if I used the same name.
I can still tell you that this was the article on the AOL home page that led to me finding the boards.
