I got to see it in person 
We went to Chincoteague / Assateague yesterday just to visit, and we’d stopped at the Virginia welcome center on the way down, where an attendant mentioned it. I hadn’t heard anything about it!
We did the guided bus ride around Assateague and the driver told us a lot about what the mission was intended to demonstrate - and that the beach at Assateague was to be a great launch spot. So after our tour, we went over to the beach, and waited… and found out it was scratched :(. As we were to go to the Williamsburg area that night and tour around there today, it sounded like we’d miss out.
But the teenagers wanted to go back and try to watch it! So a slightly-aborted tour of some of the historical stuff, followed by a frantic trip back across the bay and up the peninsula - and we made it to Assateague with quite literally less than 5 minutes to spare.
