I’m a displaced graduate of Ohio University… home of the Bobcats… not the damn Buckeyes (if you’re not from there, many people don’t know there’s a difference).
Last week, right before stuffing myself full of non-vegetarian turkey (my annual cheat!), I caught the Marching 110 in the Macy’s Parade. Then I heard that Matt Lauer (a fellow alum) also had them on the Today show, doing their groovin’ thing at 8:00 in the a.m., which I missed since I don’t get up before 10 on vacation days.
I was so proud and excited to see them, I actually cried in my own living room! Seeing the Bobcats marching out there made me homesick for the first time in the 9 years I’ve lived in Florida. Reminded me of all the foggy, hazy, drug and alcohol-induced memories. Ahhh… those were the days, weren’t they?
So, I was wondering if there are any OU Dopers out there, or even OU Alumni Dopers? Didja see the band? What did ya think? Do you miss OU? (Normally I don’t give it much thought and am not generally predisposed to homesickness.) And finally…
If you did see the Marching 110 in the Parade, don’t you think Matt Lauer should have finished his sentence when he said, “I used to spend many afternoons watching that band”?
End of sentence should have been, “Right before we went Uptown drinking!” I was sooo disappointed.
