Just one example of what I’m talking about.
That is gutwrenching Zenster. As a father of 4 (3 of which are girls) I don’t think I could forgive anyone who did that to one of them. Ever. On an intellectual level I could certainly agree that rape is a terrible thing and there is no case in which it would be appropriate, but on an emotional level I’m sure that I would be so outraged, wounded, and hurt that I literally would not care if the hypothetical rapist of one of my children ended up being raped repeatedly while in prison. Just imagining something like that happening to one of my children makes me feel physically ill.
And the fact that you are a petty and spitefull fool who seeks to justify insane behavior on your part is noted.
You claim credibility based on whom you spoke to? Hell, I’ve spoken with President Ford a number of times, but that doesn’t make me presidential material.
Then you should know that victimizing someone is wrong, you moron.
Pure and utter bullshit. Absolutely moronic gibbering on your part. I condemned you based on your goddamned stupid expressed desire that someone become a victim of rape. 'Tis you who is attempting, and failing terribly at that, to make a convenient argument.
Now pull your head out of your ass and try to make a sensible argument on the issue.
p.s. to that piece of shit for a human being, Zenster:
Where have I not advocated that Luster receive just punishment?
Thank you, Grim_Beaker, unlike some others here, you seem to understand my own feelings in this matter rather well.
Really? Wow. That reminds of the time I saw former President Richard Nixon – at a Wendy’s in a bad part of town, Lemmon
Avenue in Dallas. He waltzed in and ordered his meal (2 bodyguards by his side, of course.) He was quite agreeable to signing an autograph for my (now) ex-husband.
Sorry. Carry on. My vote’s on Zenster.
Blonde: I was an acolyte at St. John’s Episcopal Church in DC. Since Ford attended there often, I got to chat a few times with him. Related aside: That’s also the church which the family and I visited when I was but a wee tyke and we were doing the tourist thing. I ended up sitting between President Johnson and one of his Secret Service guards. Still doesn’t make me presidential material.
So your vote’s with the person who seems to think that not caring if someone becomes a victim of a crime is the same thing as wishing that a person does become the victim of a crime? Interesting ethos there.
I don’t waste a lot of sympathy on rapists. Sorry, it is what it is.
Guess my attempt to end the argument has (once again - when the hell will I learn!) failed.
Stop the presses and cancel the OP. Monty’s indignant again (and answering his own posts - as usual). Could someone please nail him back up on his cross? We don’t need the wood yet.
stockton: My curiosity has finally forced me to ask this question–are you congenitally stupid or do you delight in not knowing anything?
Blonde, as an obviously delightful specimen of womanhood, perhaps you could please illuminate the less enlightened about how sexual predation affected your world when you were single (and even now) while making choices about going out at night or picking partners.
I maintain my point that sexual predators make it intensely more difficult for people to meet each other, simply out of the fear factor for single women. This havoc that they have wreaked upon society as a whole has far deeper and significant ramifications in terms of depression and isolation for individuals than most people would recognize. The ripple effect of sexual assault and violence extends into nearly every person’s life at some point. That such a small portion of criminals should have such a massive effect upon society in general makes any punishment they receive seem minuscule in comparison.
I’ll also go out on a limb here and simply say that vicious thugs like Luster, abandon their own humanity as they rob others of their dignity. That an inhuman sexual predator should encounter inhumane treatment subsequent to incarceration is something that I cannot affort to waste time worrying about. Rapists are among the most inhuman of criminals and the impact of a single one of their crimes echos throughout the lifetime of their victims. Witness the stress the victim in my link went through when a similar crime occured near her (and not even to her).
I’ll spend my time making this world a better place for ones I love, my friends and the kids around me. Serial rapists just aren’t going to get a lot of face time or sympathy from me. I have more important things to be concerned about.
PS: Monty, notice how hard it is for people to take you seriously as you trot around on your high horse? (How’s that for irony?) Try not insulting people for all of fifteen minutes and see if more meaningful dialogue occurs. I had more meaningful dialogue when I met Ronald Reagan than I’m having with you and I hate Reagan.
I guess angels were watching over me in my youth – and now, 12 years into the “non-dating” world, I can’t imagine how terrifying it must be out there. Even though I’ve never been attacked, I refuse to go out at night alone, and I look at the floor at all times to avoid looking men in the eyes. It’s difficult to understand unless you’re standing in our shoes.
Thanks, Zenster.
Thank you, Blonde. It is the fact that you are unwilling to go out at night alone that really hacks me off. How is it that society has allowed a small fraction of criminals to confine over half of our population once the sun goes down? There is a feminist bumpersticker that I have always admired. It reads:
WOMEN, TAKE BACK THE NIGHT!
I long for a world where a woman can walk down the street at 03:00 AM without fear. Until that time, I refuse to have the least bit of pity, sympathy or concern for vile thugs like Luster.
Well, Zenster. I did not, as you lied above, “start out insulting” you. I did make the suggestion that you not go around wishing someone become a victim of a crime. You then showed how much of an ass you are and now you bitch to me about me. Of course, stockton showed up and sort of accused me of being a sock puppet. Since stockton’s opinion of reality has about as much validity to me as your stupidities, that’s pretty much blowing in the wind.
You might notice that you haven’t yet answered a single query I put to you unless you count your insane diatribe as an answer.
Monty, please cross your legs. I’ve only got one nail left.
I think castration (in addition to imprisonment) would be an appropriate punishment for male sexual predators.
But it’ll never happen in the US justice system (cruel and unusual, and irreversible in cases of mistaken identity).
I think Monty has a good point. Whether or not Luster deserves it (he does), wishing he was the victim of rape in prison kinda puts you on the side of the prison rapist.
And we all know, no one should be on the side of the prison rapist. I mean, you can’t applaud his actions and decry them at the same time, can you?
Thank you. It’s not as if prison rapists only pick on the ones who’ve committed the most despicable crimes, after all. I can’t see it being a good thing to fuck up someone mentally even more than they already are - especially if (unlike Luster, most likely) they might get out again some day.
I was raped. I can’t applaud prison rape.
Zenster: So you’re wishing I become the victim of a crime? Right; you have way more moral superiority than Luster.
Let us know when you’re done spewing, Monty. I’m also really interested as to how you’ve been accused of being a “sock puppet.” I believe that is a violation of board policy and I’ve yet to see a moderator intervene here. Perhaps you should report the offending post to one. Oh, and do tell where I have wished for you to “… become the victim of a crime.”
As I mentioned before, you discount your own arguments by resorting to invective and insult (see above). And please rest assured that nowhere have I advocated the undeserving suffer this fate. My comments are strictly directed towards Luster and filth like him. Using abusive language to protest what you see as abuse has its own amusing irony.
