I suppose it's recreational outrage, but I want this man hurt

And hurt very badly. I can’t imagine the type of person who would do this to a baby.

I hope whoever killed this baby experiences all the pain, and more, that she did. Whoever is behind it had better turn themselves in before the family finds them.

I’ll pray for the mother, father, and uncle. I can’t imagine what they are feeling just now.

Without even knowing the story I was thinking, California, Texas or Florida.

That’s worthy of RO.

So you support torture?

My recreational outrage is limited to hoping that he is caught, convicted, and sentenced to an appropriate term in prison.

Frank, I want him to experience the pain the baby went through.

The link says “LA Times” in it, so that’s a certain give-away. But other than picking the 3 largest states, by population, and thus increasing your chances over picking any other three… what do you base this on?

Clearly a tragedy, though, in the truest sense. It’s like the guy wanted that particular baby and then, for whatever reason, decided it was the wrong baby and he threw her in a dumpster.

I suppose that would involve locking him inside a dumpster until he dies of thirst.

I’d be fine with that.

Well, in Florida’s case . . .

I see no indication in the article you quoted that indicates the cause of death of the baby. Regardless, our society has punishments for murder. It’s called prison. It’s not called, “an eye for an eye.”

No Country For New Babbies: why am I thinking this guy must be a Javier Bardem wannabe?

Yeah, I’d be cool with that.

An appropriate term in prison for this fucker is tge briefest possible time in death row, ended BT, obviously, execution.

There is waaay too much horror perpetrated in the world on others every single day for me to be able to be outraged by even a fraction of it. I reserve my outrage for situations that affect me directly, and even then I have to work to get past it, or I ain’t good for shit.

But, let’s suppose the it turns out the baby died of dehydration in the dumpster. Are some people in this thread really suggesting we do the same to the man, if he is found guilty? I know a lot of people may feel like they want that. But do you REALLY want it? Do you really want to change the constitution to allow it?

This is one of the few things that I’ve read in the Pit today that does not smack of recreational outrage.

I think it’s more of a case of – this is how we FEEL when we read this kind of shit. No, we don’t really think the government should do this. But sometimes, when you hear about people acting like that, you just WANT to do it. It’s called being human. Jesus.

At this point, I have to confess, I myself, am RO-ed out. I’ve heard much worse than this. But for for fuck’s sake, I don’t think Baker is truly, literally suggesting that’s what we should do. Just that that’s what she feels like doing. God, people. Quit taking everything so literally.

Me, too!

Thank you Guinastasia for expressing my feelings better than I can myself.

I wouldn’t do these things, but I do fantasize when I see them.

It’s better that way. We’d all live in fear if punishments really did fit the crime.

No doubt the shitbag in question is entitled to all his Constitutional rights and guarantees, same as folks who aren’t shitbags. I’m just saying that if it should come to pass that he died a protracted, agonizing death where he spent every moment praying that he might, at last, be allowed to die just to escape the pain, I wouldn’t feel the tiniest particle of sympathy for him. It wouldn’t make me happy, really, to know that he spent what seemed like an eternity helplessly screaming and writhing. What would make me happy is if shitbags didn’t kill babies (or anybody else). What it would make me, is a little bit satisfied in a bleak sort of way, that the shitbag in question was paid what he earned.
