Any Pro Wrestling Fans in the Audience? (Multiple promotions) (Part 2)

Good point. Theory plays the slimy heel very well. People pay hard-earned cash to watch the little twerp get what’s coming to him.

Here’s a video of the tractor lift:

It was a dumb ending to an all too brief match. IOW they couldn’t think of a reasonable ending to leave the title on Liv.

Let’s be clear, the ref started the 3 count on Rousey first. He has to watch her shoulders and make sure they stay down throughout the count. A tapout is different, it’s not timed, a tapout only happens after the referee notices the tapping and signals the time keeper. So the ref did nothing wrong and Ronda needs to be suspended for her actions at the end of the match, especially putting her hands on the referee. If this wasn’t scripted the moron announcers wouldn’t have noticed Liv tapping.

There’s clearly new direction, definitely less crowd reaction shots carefully scheduled to prevent us from seeing what we paid for. I think there is some kind of new camera work, more closeups at least. Don’t know when real changes will start, probably only small changes for a while and then suddenly everything will be different one Monday night.

Check out this match for the upcoming Jim Crockett Promotions card that will feature Ric Flair’s last match.

He actually climbed the freakin’ thing.

Here’s ESPN’s recap of SummerSlam:

I take it back; I read his Wikipedia article, and no amount of talent could make up for the fact that he’s a pretty shitty human being.

X-Pac heat. I don’t want to boo him. I just don’t want to see him.

It’s being reported today that Sasha Banks and Naomi have reconciled with WWE and might be returning as soon as tonight. It certainly sounds possible - the people who were responsible for mishandling the women’s divison are all gone now.

Reputable reporting, or just one of those sites that repeat sites that simply throw out every stray thought and tout the ones that actually are true or close to true as “reporting”?

Wrestling Observer is reporting it, and they’re just about the gold standard for behind-the-scenes reporting.

I use to be into pro wrestling in the 80’s and 90’s. What I loved most about it was the trash talking. While I enjoyed watching the matches the trash talking was many times too amusing. This clip I posted from Youtube is from August 1989. Rowdy Roddy Piper and Ravishing Rick Rude with is manager Bobby Henenan talking trash to each other.

Fast forward to the best part of this clip IMO which starts at the 19:45 minute mark when Ravishing Rick Rude tells Piper he can go to his house and bust down his door and then punch his dobberman in the mouth and a bunch of other amusing stuff. Funny IMO.

AEW Dark Taz/Excalibur moment of the day

An august presentation for the first show of August. See what I did there?

  • Taz hangs around hedge fund types at Wall Street. Bushes and topiaries are also nice.
  • Taz is like Willow Nightingale, always happy and cheerful.
  • Taz, endeavoring to hook numerical interest, asks Ex what Diamante’s 305 refers to. Ex correctly guesses it’s her area code.
  • Taz should get paid more because Ex is too sarcastic and condescending to him.
  • Suggesting The Factory needs lyrics to their entrance music, Taz sings “We are the factory! We are the factory! We are the factory! One’s from Jersey!”
  • After Nick Comoroto gorilla slams his much smaller opponent, Taz says “Kid might need to get new trunks or new buttocks!”
  • Sean Dean should come out riding an aircraft carrier on wheels.
  • Ryan Nemeth stole Max Caster’s mic.

Today’s moment is brought to you by an ECW callback.

The Acclaimed vs. The Wingmen’s “Pretty” Peter Avalon & Ryan Nemeth

Taz: Hear that beep? Hear that beeping? Chair shots. I like chair shots.
Ex: Yeah, thanks Sabu.

Wonderful stuff. Not scripted in the way it’s done now, possibly they worked out some ideas beforehand but either one of those guys could have ad libbed the whole thing.

I do like how they so effortlessly travel across the pond every week to call Pac’s matches.

A decent article about the transition from Vinnie Mac running the show in WWE to the triumvirate of the McMahon-Helmsley Era and Nick Khan:

It’s interesting, but I think we’re now seeing the start of the HHH reign of terror. I expect to see edgier but even stupider storylines and remarkable successes from midget wrestlers.

If anybody can bring back Doink and his little buddy, HHH can.

Giving Shayna the title shot for Clash at the Castle was a great move.

Starting this Monday on RAW, there will be a Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament.

Glad that they’re coming back.
