If that’s the plan, I guess doing it this way lets him come into the match as an underdog, but it’s not really like you have to try to get Chicago to cheer CM Punk.
I hope Mox beats Punk in front of Punk’s own home crowd. Mox is the man in AEW, and I’m here for it.
Was it actually Hillbilly Jim? Or just some big guy with Jim’s beard and a pair of overalls?
The Sportster likes the story AEW is telling with Moxley and Punk, and frankly, so do I.
idont think he should hold his breath tho
HAHAHAHAHA no. I don’t want that wannabe kiddie-fucker back in WWE.
He’s toxic. Unless he can find a way to completely exonerate himself, his career in the public eye should be over.
I remember some wrestling news site published the IMs he was sending a younger trainee, basically telling him he was his bitch. Fucking creepy.
I thought it was going to be held at Clash at the Castle, but apparently the finals of the Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament between the teams of Raquel Rodriguez/Aliyah and Dakota Kai/Iyo Sky will be held tonight on RAW.
Anyone want to lay odds that Sasha Banks and Naomi will come out after the match with their own tag-team titles?
By “own”, you probably mean new ones WWE had made as all the stories referenced Banks and Naomi leaving the titles behind when they left.
So Naomi and Sasha will be facing whoever wins tonight at the Clash. I think HHH will want to keep Kai N Sky together, Rodriguez as a singles wrestler, and give Aliyah a one-way ticket to Palookaville.
Problem here is that Kai and Sky are already booked for the trios match at Clash. That indicates to me that Raquel and Aliyah might win the championships.
The match tonight was booked for the Clash. Things change. But it doesn’t matter much, I never get wrestling picks right.
Ain’t gonna happen.
Velveteen Dream/Patrick Clark could easily have found himself upper card even under Vince. But he’s another talented wrestler who caused his own downfall. He’s as toxic as toxic can be, and the only wrestling work he will ever find will be on the most outlaw of indie outlaw shows. If he can leave the US when this is all over, some Caribbean league may find room for him, but that’s best case scenario for him. His future is digging ditches.
Matt Riddle and Austin Theory have their first names back now.
apparently he’s been arrested twice since that article I posted , way to go I guess
AEW Dark Taz/Excalibur moment of the day
In this edition,
- Taz gets excited because a fan held up a “SERP section” sign for Serpentico and starts incorporating it into other expressions. “Who’s house? SERP’s house!” “What do you do with soup? You SERP it.”
- Taz tells Ex he doesn’t have to worry about Luther taking his job with that voice.
- Under the mask, Ex looks exactly like Taz. (He’s also 87 and has Jeff Jarrett-style blond hair)
- Taz eavesdrops on referee meetings, mainly because their room has better coffee.
- They drop references to Jeep Swenson and Ronny Garvin.*
- Ex flubs the pronunciation of JD Drake’s name. Taz tsks and says he’s going to drop an email to Tony Kahn.
The Workhorsemen vs. Oliver Sawyer & Manny Lo
Drake forces Lo to the corner and chops him across the chest.
Taz: Yeah, Manny got chopped right there. That’ll definitely bring a lot of blood to the area of your areola and blow it up. And if they’re both blown up, that’s OK. If it’s just one, it’s embarrassing.
Ex: Tries to conceal laughter.
Taz: It’s a funky look bro. Let’s be honest.

Jeep Swenson was in WCCW in the late 80’s. He set a Guinness record for most massive biceps, but took so many steroids, he couldn’t dress himself or climb stairs. He starred as Bane in the 1997 film Batman & Robin. In his moment of infamy, Kevin Sullivan booked him in a WCW PPV in “The Alliance to End Hulkamania” event and named him “The Final Solution,” seemingly unaware that’s the term Hitler used when calling for the end of all Jews. WCW quickly changed his name to “The Ultimate Solution” when Jewish organizations complained.
-
Ronny Garvin was known as “The Hands of Stone” in WCW, but went through a less savory character development phase. When Jimmy Valiant feuded with Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express, Garvin would dress in drag as Miss Atlanta Lively and come to his rescue.
I remember him in the old AWA. Massive man, didn’t really wrestle so much as being a stationary obstruction. AWA was fading then. It was just before or just after most every wrestler half-decent of better was stolen by WWE or WCW*.
*Not sure of the timing, my have been a WCW precursor.
