Any Pro Wrestling Fans in the Audience? (Multiple promotions) (Part 2)

An online scammer pretending to be Alexa Bliss swindled $1 million out of an elderly retiree who believed he was in a relationship with her.

Baron Corbin, Tegan Nox, and Indi Hartwell will be leaving WWE.

Then he’ll debut in TNA as Count Cobain

Crown Jewel is tomorrow morning, and it actually sounds like a decent card this year;

  • Men’s Crown Jewel Championship: Cody Rhodes vs. GUNTHER
  • Women’s Crown Jewel Championship: Liv Morgan vs. Nia Jax
  • US Championship: LA Knight (c) vs. Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes
  • Women’s Tag Team Championship: Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair (c) vs. Damage CTRL vs. Meta-Four vs. Chelsea Green & Piper Niven
  • OG Bloodline (Roman Reigns & the Usos) vs. the New Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, & Tama Tonga)
  • Seth Rollins vs. Bronson Reed
  • Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens

I probably won’t watch live since waking up before noon on my day off doesn’t sound like much fun to me, but I’ll watch the replay at some point tomorrow.

I didn’t watch Crown Jewel because FUCK Saudi Arabia, but I saw a replay of the Bloodline drama.

Damn it, Sami, this is why you go for the Helluva Kick in the corner, you dumbass.

UGH looks like Gunther vs. Goldberg is happening. For someone who loses all the time, he sure does get a lot of world title shots.

I’m thinking it’s going to be a swerve. Goldberg will get on the mic and say “We didn’t say WHICH Goldberg” and his son will jump in the ring.

If GUNTHER squashes Goldberg like Goldberg did to Brock back in 2017, then I’d be OK with it.

No. No more million dollar paychecks for 10 minutes of work for Goldberg. Fuck him and the horse he rode in on.

Ooh. Harsh.

Personally, I’d like to see Gunther work an angle with Jacob Fatu once the current Bloodline story is over. Put them in a cage or HIAC, so there’s no Bloodline involvement, but no weapons either - just let them beat the hell out of each other.

Looks like our main event for Wargames is going to be OG Bloodline vs. New Bloodline - Roman, the Usos, and Sami vs. Solo, Guerrilas of Destiny, and Jacob Fatu. Sounds like it’ll be an ultraviolent mess.

Also, we’re getting a Women’s United States Championship.

Saturday Night’s Main Event returns this weekend, live on NBC and Peacock. Here’s the card:

  • Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens
  • Women’s World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Iyo Sky
  • World Heavyweight Championship: GUNTHER (c) vs. Finn Balor vs. Damien Priest
  • Women’s United States Championship: TBD
  • Sami Zayn vs. Drew McIntyre

Should be fun.

I’ll have to catch the replay Sunday, as I’ve got indie shows Friday and Saturday nights. Two WWE ID prospects should be at the first show (and both have appeared on AEW/ROH as enhancement talent).

I’m also going to an indy show Saturday night. The morning DJ from a Seattle hard rock station is taking on an AEW/ROH jobber for the county championship.

Jesse Ventura will be doing commentary for SNME, and there will be appearances by Jimmy Hart, Ted DiBiase, Koko B. Ware, Greg ‘the Hammer’ Valentine, and Tito Santana.

Also, Cody will reportedly be defending the classic “Winged Eagle” version of the world championship belt.

Sounds like Hunter is really going all-out for an old school feel.

Wonder if Ventura will still call Tito Santana Chico? Or insist Koko B. Ware’s middle name is Buckwheat?

SNME was exactly what I want a wrestling TV show to be. Nothing happening in the ring but wrestling. No talky segments, no contract signings, no “championship celebrations” or impromptu matches or title fights that end in a DQ or other soap opera stuff that could be done in backstage in terviews or pretapes or on social media. If Raw and Smackdown were like this I’d watch every week. The old-school walkway and red-white-and-blue ring ropes and referees dressed like boxing refs was a great little chef’s kiss. Jesse Ventura hasn’t lost a single step on commentary and he’s SO much better as a heel announcer than anyone else around these days, so I hope they keep bringing him back for these.

I kinda wish they’d done at least one title change to make the show feel like the real deal, but the match quality was consistent. Can’t wait for the next one.

I do like that Chelsea Green is now top of the midcard. I always liked her as the unhinged abandoned bride, but those types of angles seldom lead to championships.

Kevin Owens seems to be settling into the “jobber to the stars” role lately, which is kind of disappointing, but so is Sami Zayn. It’s been nearly 10 years since they were called up from NXT.
