Any really "downbeat" renditions of "God Save the Queen," on trumpet?

Kind of an odd question, but; Does anyone know of any really “downbeat” renditions of “God Save the Queen” (or “My Country Tis of Thee”), on the trumpet, no less?

I’m inspired to ask after going through some old videotapes, and re-watching the “War of the Worlds” documentary they did on TLC’s Great Books festival. A very mournful version of the aforementioned song was played during a montage of “newsreel footage” showing the Martian walkers decimating Victorian England.

Needless to say, this is just the kind of song I’d like to put on my Music for the Fall of Empires mix. (Right after “We’ll meet again” and “I can’t stop loving you.”)

So…does anyone know if there even are any commercial recordings of a melancholy “'Save the Queen”?

Heck, the thing always sounds downbeat. Nasty little song*.

Sorry, that’s no help is it. I wonder if, perhaps, mudcat would, at a stretch of its normal folk/blues mission, have anything helpful.

I’ll look there too, but my connection never can be trusted much.

    • It’s a Scottish thing - I’m not too keen on the line calling on god to "curse the hated Scots.

Oh great, now I have Sex Pistols played on trumpet going through my head.

LOLOL what a thought - you’ll not be having an especially jolly Sunday, then Kantalooppi?

Oh, and I did, honestly, have a go at looking for it, but no l uck yet.

Maybe there’s a Hendrix-styled guitar version you could transpose? Or maybe just find a normal-tempo version on trumpet and slow it down by half and run it through some effects gear.
