Any recs for mopeds <$1200

I’m posting this for a friend who’s considering buying a street scooter for Atlanta. He needs one that’s at least 100 cc and preferably 150 cc and is interested in a Rightway because of their price and feels he can comfortably afford $1200 at the outside.

Does anybody here have any recs for or (just as importantly) against Rightways in particular or mopeds in general in that price and power range? (Also, he lives OTP in metro Atlanta if that makes a difference- he realizes he can’t go on the Interstate [at least not safely] but does want something that will get him around the burbs safely.)

Thanks for any info-

J

Pretty much everywhere in North America you need a motorcycle license of some kind to drive anything other than a 50 cc scooter.
That’s your friend’s first problem.

The second? I’ve never even heard of Rightway…
Honda, Yamaha, Vespa, Aprilia and Derbi have good scooters in the 50 cc range, and several models in the 100-250 range. A new Kymco wouldn’t be bad either, but I’d avoid a used model until they’d been in North America for a few more years.

Here’s a review of four 150cc scooters.
