A friend is trying to encourage me to sign up with Skype.
I’m wondering about privacy issues. Does Skype reveal your IP/location? I looked online but couldn’t find the answers.
What does Skype get out of it?

If this thread gets into a “yes, I like it…No, I don’t like it” then it’s off to IMHO.
Well it would have to reveal your IP otherwise you couldn’t do anything useful with it. You could always try and hide yourself behind a proxy. Depending on your ISP, your IP may reveal certain things about you.
Skype is using the computer to computer calls as a hook to get you to try their computer to phone calling which costs money.
