Any submariners still left around here?

So, I was in the Navy, but I was ABE (Aviation Boatswain’s Mate) and worked on carriers.

A FOAF knew I was in the Navy and brought me a whole bunch of “Navy stuff”. I just looked through it. It’s a mixed batch of patches, pins, challenge coins, and other miscellanea (including a nice Zippo still in the case).

But, it’s all submarine (SSN/SSBN) and Surface Warfare related and I, frankly, have little interest in it. However, I would feel bad throwing it out and would love to get it to a former submariner who is knowledgeable and a collector.

I’ll ship for free, so PM me if you think it might be something you have any interest in.

@robby & @SCAdian come immediately to mind. Might be a couple more.

Unless it’s a pair of pliers, this Seabee can’t help.

I hope this works. It should be a link to pictures of the stuff:

Wow, what a nice collection! I would be interested in the submarine pins shown in your last photo, and maybe some of the non-boat-specific items on the first photo.

I’ve never actually seen a U-boat War Badge before (which I just looked up). I have a framed picture of a schematic drawing of a German Type VIIC U-boat with original signatures of ten U-boat commanders, so these would go well with that (despite the unfortunate inclusion of the swastikas on the pins). (I was inspired to get the picture after watching Das Boot many years ago.)

Anyway, I will PM you.

You might consider donating the other items to one of the many submarine museums.

Fairly sure there’s at least one more bubblehead here, but can’t remember who it is.

You might be thinking of @iiandyiiii. And I think there is someone else who has a submarine in their profile picture, but I can’t remember who it is at the moment.

Speaking of profile pictures, @SCAdian, I always get a kick out of the swim call photo on your profile, especially the underwater perspective.

That’s one of the three boats I served on, though the picture was taken around fifteen years aftre I retired.

I was a junior officer on a fast attack sub in the mid aughts. Now I work in submarine logistics for the Navy.

SSP, by any chance?

No, but I frequently work alongside SSP.

I’m a federal contractor (civilian) supporting that command. It would have been cool if you were sorta my customer. Heh.

My parents’ farm was purchased by a retited submarine captain after the passed. Never met mim, though.

I was a submarine sonarman from 2001-2006.

I’ve worked in the industry ever since, though. These days I try to avoid going to the boat as much as possible, but it still happens.

1982-1987, USS Tautog and USS Queenfish.

But I’m not a collector of stuff.
