Isn’t “I can smell weed” a standard line used by cops just to give them grounds for searching your car?

You are the victim of what has became increasingly common police behavior - roust some harmless guys (well, the one dude COULD have wizzed on the officer’s shoes so I’ll amend that to mostly harmless) with a little whacky weed to show that the force is “Tough on Drugs” while totally ignoring the big boys who might not go down quietly.
I wish you luck. Hopefully New Orleans operates like the local judicial system…a hefty fine will cover most crimes nicely.
