Rastahomie, I think it’s more the latter than the former. I won’t speak for others, but I’d consider it crass to post such details of my financial life. Besides, I once had to sell my home to avoid foreclosure, and I know how quickly things can go sour.
Hm, I have a similar joke:
Two men were on a flight to Texas. One man kept bragging about how much land he owned. “You can drive all day and not get from one end to the other,” he said. “I call it the Super T Ranch, and it’s over 400,000 acres.” The second man, who was older, said he, too, was a landowner. When the first man asked him how much he owned, the older man said, “Oh, about 50 acres.” The first man laughed out loud. “Only 50 acres? And what do you call your spread?” he asked. The older man turned and, with a smile, said, “Downtown Dallas.”
I’ve got tears of laughter over this. No, no, I do believe you- it just smacks of pride. I love it. I really do. Now, let me see it.
As for the O.P.? I live job to job, some months nothing comes in and I have no way to pay out, other months it’s fat city. An odd way to live a life, especially with children. They come first- which is as it should be, lest we think I’m being chintzy about it. The wifestrocity does have a steady job, thank god.
I don’t have my health, not like I did. That VERY ANNOYING old chestnut is true, I’d trade big paychecks to not have back pain. HUUUUUGE paychecks. We have one new car, one very old used car. The house needs tons of work. We do okay, our savings account is meager to say the least.
It’s all just stuff. I love the stone’s I’ve sculpted more than the electronic hoo-has I’ve bought. I love the toys, but the intangibles give a greater sense of being rooted in reality, and are more soothing.
Then, there are the cats.
Cartooniverse
I’m twenty, just bought a house (which was a fantastic investment - in two months the value went up 10K!), and have a nice job. But the money is very tight, so while I’m doing well for my age, I’m not weathly, but with the right investments, hope to be one day…
Uh huh…
You were doing so well, right up until you brought up the cats…
Evil Hell Spawns they are…
Grrrrrrr…
Electronic hoo-has, eh? Do tell.
