In the past few months, buried amongst the spam I normally get (Viagra, mortgages, promises of a bigger penis, promises of bigger breasts, etc) I have been getting 2-3 spams PER DAY for low, low, low prices on Norton Anti-Virus software. Is it just me?
You’re not the only one, I get a couple a day as well.
Me too. Only at my Yahoo account, and it goes into my bulk mail folder. I usually don’t open the bulk mail folder (I delete them all without looking) but once in awhile if I’m really bored I’ll take a peek and scan the subject lines of my spam, and there seems to be a lot of Norton spam in there.
You’re not alone. I’ve been getting these both at home and work for at least 6 months now. Not quite at the rate you describe, but probably a few times per week. I actually read the offer when I first saw it because I was looking to switch from McAfee to Norton at the time. If I remember correctly, they come in paper sleeves with no boxes or paperwork. There’s probably no way to register them to get updates and support. But I’m sure you’ll join me in saying what a thoughtful offer they’ve made. Once I enlarge my (non-existent) penis, make some pasta in my new pasta pot, pay down all of my bills for free and watch Debbie doing Alice, I’ll be sure to send a note of thanks, including all of my personal information for verifcation purposes only, to the Norton offer as well.
I’ve seen a bunch of these. Just so you know, the spam isn’t coming from Symantec, but rather from counterfeiters software pirates. More details here.
I used to work for the company, and they are very serious about thier customer privacy and anti-spam policy.
