Anybody else notice Donald Sutherland's voice in advertisements?

Just heard yet another Donald Sutherland voiceover for “Simply Lemonade” on TV. I hope my voice sounds that good when I get to be his age.

I did. Right away with the first Simply Orange commercial he did. He has a very distinctive voice. I’m scrabbling around in my head trying to think what other voiceover he’s done recently, and I can’t quite attach it to a dendrite. He’s very good in that one, too.

He’s gained considerable gravitas over the years, hasn’t he? And it shows in his voice.

Also his accent really stands out as Canadian in MAS*H and Kellys Heroes although I love his performances and it doesnt break the illusion that he is the character. I highly recommend a forgotten film ‘Klute’. Not only is he excellent, it might be Jane Fondas best performance.

I hear Kiefer Sutherland a lot, too.

It’s very noticeable and, forgive me, I find it kind of annoying. I hear a sort of a lisp or an ill fitting denture sound or something. Don’t get me wrong, I like him quite a bit as an actor and don’t notice his voice when I’m watching him, but those voice overs do not sound good to my ears.

His career is going strong for a guy who has a 30 year old granddaughter.

He was interviewed when the last Hunger Games movie came out and basically said that now all of his kids are grown he’s raking in money to retire, so you’ll probably hear him a lot in the near future.
He lobbied hard for the role of President Snow because he loved the books and thought it would be a great big budget role to go out on; that’s not saying he wants it for his last role, but if it’s his last major role in a big budget franchise he’d be happy with it, kind of like Christopher Lee had with both LOTR and the Star Wars prequel trilogy that never happened.

Always odd to see him with Kiefer- he towers over him.

Haven’t really heard enough of any Sutherland to peg the voice. Mike Rowe and Tom Selleck, OTOH…

Mwwwwaaah!! Thank you, Big Norse. That was going to bug me until I figured it out.
