Anybody ever toss a Caber?

I’m going to a Renaissance Festival in a couple of weeks and I want to participate in the Caber Toss. So I’d like to know what I am getting myself into. Is it over 7 or 8 stone?

How about the hammer? How much does that weigh? I’m over 6 foot and 230 pounds, I can lift my fair share…

Anyone ever toss a caber? Is it fun?

Er, how much is 7 or 8 stone?

From what I recall, a caber weighs about 120-140 pounds.

More info: here.

1 stone is 6.3 kilos, or almost 14 pounds. So that may be accurate.

Are you going to the Arizona festival? Some friends of mine perform there - check out the London Broil if you get a chance.

Yes I am going to the huge one in AZ. Out in Mesa, or Apache Junction…London Broil you say? No problem!

I’ve tossed one - they weigh a ton and the damn thing nearly tipped me over once I finally got it pointed straight up for the toss attempt. It’s nice to say that I’ve done it, but all I really did was increase my admiration for the “pros” by a factor of 10…

Actually, by definition 1 stone = 14 pounds.
