So the other day I was waiting for the spouse to get ready to go out to dinner, and I was idly flipping through channels. For reasons that escape me, I stopped on an infomercial for a product called the “Flavor Wave Turbo,” which is a portable oven thing that cooks with halogen heat and convection. Normally I don’t fall for infomercials (especially ones with Mr. T as the advertiser!) but this thing looked fairly nifty. It looks like it might be a good way to cook simple food (which both the spouse and I like) quickly and easily.
I looked it up online and a lot of people seem to like them (though most of the reviews I saw looked like they were for an older version). The main problems seemed to be that it can get very hot and that it likes to break down shortly before the warranty is up (but both of these complaints were less frequent than folks who seemed to like it.)
Does anyone here have one of these things or have any experience with one? I’m still kind of thinking about trying it out, but I’m not sure yet. Thanks in advance!
Heh. You and me both. And yes, I realize that ‘halogen heating’ is basically a fancy EZ Bake Oven. But frankly, if it cooks the food decently in a short time, I don’t really care if it uses pixie dust and happy thoughts. I just want to know if it works.
