Super Bowl Sunday is coming, and my husband and I love to snack and watch the game. I’d love to surprise him with homemade salsa.
He likes his salsa very flavorful and very spicy. No beans or corn, though; he prefers tomatoes, peppers, onion and garlic.
Any suggestions?
I was going to post a response to the God and Physics thread, but I think I am much less likely to make a fool of myself with this one.
Here is my personal favorite:
2 jalapeno peppers
2 serrano chili peppers (red if you like it hotter)
2 yellow wax chili peppers
3 garlic cloves
1/2 onion (medium sized unless you like a whole lot of onion)
2 tomatoes (medium sized unless you like a whole lot of tomato)
1 cup of fresh cilantro leaves
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 cup water (or less if the tomatoes have a lot of juice)
Chop all but the last three into large chunks, then give them a few whirls in the food processor. (I think it is better to keep it chunky than liquified. The flavors seem fresher that way) Then add the last three ingredients and stir them up.
Enjoy the game!
Thanks, serenitynow! That’s exactly the kind of recipe I’m looking for.
