In my retirement I’ve decided to take up personal training, to keep myself fit and to maybe make a couple of bucks here and there. To that end, I’ve take a personal training class at the local community college. The class basically worked its way through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) program material so that presumably we are all ready to take and pass the ACT certification test. The certification covers a lot more ground than I expected though, which is good because I would certainly like any personal trainer I hire to know this stuff but it’s also bad because I thought my experience in gyms over the years would carry me more. Experience did help in the little bit of practical gym work we did but I had a whole lot of book learnin’ to do too.
So that’s where I am. The class is done. The teacher was not good in a number of ways and I’m certain she mixed up her texts somehow so that there were either no correct answers on some questions or possibly two or more (all multiple choice questions.) The tests were open book, nobody got more than 70% and we were never given the correct answers. So now I’m questioning my ability to do a simple multiple choice test on stuff I thought I knew.
Anyway. Anybody here ever take the test? I could use some works of encouragement.
