Anybody know Guitars?

Incidentally this guitar is a direct descendant of my first axe, an Ibanez 540s, which served me VERY well. I sold it a few years later and kick myself all the time for it.

Thanks. I’ll bump this tommorrow after I go back to the store. I’m pretty sure I saw one of those there, or at least the brand. Again I appreciate the help.

Astroboy if I know someone who plays guitar, they’re keeping it a closely guarded secret. I play piano myself.

Euth, just out of curiosity, what kinda rig you playing? I don’t imagine you use that guitar port thing on stage, do you? (I am playing a G&L legacy whose pickguard I dremeled to put a Seymour Duncan humbucker in the bridge with a '74 Fender Deluxe Reverb)

And not to knock the esteemed **Euthanasiast’s[\b] guitar choice (Ibanez does make some excellent guitars), but my choice from that site would be this Fender Fat Strat.. It’s a little cheaper than the Ibanez, and I like the classic look. I also think an amp might be important if he wants to jam with friends.

I AM looking at the guitar port for myself though. Damn you! Ignorance truly is bliss!

You know I was thinking about a Legacy about a month ago, but I got distracted. How do you like that guitar?

Peavey Wolfgang Custom
Fender 50th Anniversary American Strat
Gibson Les Paul Supreme (I would never gig with this)
Washburn NV 100 Acoustic (love this guitar!)
Peavey 5150 amp
Fender '64 Vibroverb Custom
Fender '57 twin

I also want your '74 Fender Deluxe Reverb, but i think I’d be shot if I even brought it up.

This covers the rock/blues spectrum respectably. With a strat and a les paul you can get any sound you like. And I am looking really hard at a VettaII, which would be the Guitar Port on Steroids. I could gig with that. It’s actually been a while since I’ve gigged. Funny, I don’t miss it much.

And no, I’d look pretty ridiculous plugging into my guitar port on stage. But some people argue that I look pretty ridiculous anyway.

 I WANT TO GO TO YOUR HOUSE!!
I love my G&L… 'Course I’ve had it for close to 10 years, so I’m just a liiiiiiiiiiiiitle biased. The single coils sound pretty fat. My friend back home has a SRV signature strat and the sound is comparable to the Texas special pickups in that thing. I love the jumbo frets, the shape of the neck and the build quality is very high. The one thing I HATE is the floating bridge, but I epoxied in a piece of purpleheart (really hard wood, in an attempt to get more sustain) to block the backwards travel. The only problem I’m having now is that the frets seem to have started to peek out the edges of the fretboard (I think it’s the extremely dry climate here). I’m going to bring up my fret file the next time I go home.

And you can have my amp after you pry it from my cold, dead hands. (Funny story, that. I traded a piece of shit 50w Peavey that I bought for $200 to some shredder kid who couldn’t get the Fender to ‘sound metal’. Almost as good as my friend who found a '70-something Marshall 50w head in some guy’s garage: guy told him it didn’t work, gave it to my friend who put new tubes in it, and voila! Free Marshall.)

One caveat: I’ve heard that G&L has changed the recipe a little for Legacies since I got mine. I don’t know what the newer ones sound like.

I’d really like to have that guitar.

:frowning:

Just looking for updates on this thread…

Stuffy, how’s your son coming along?
