I recall that this song was part of the play (WHERE’S CHARLEY), which itself derives from a Victorain era play (CHARLEY’ AUNT). Anyway, anybody know the words?
I wish I could help. I actually appeared in this play in or around 1970, but my role was a small, non-singing one. After hearing me sing at auditions I was unanamously awarded the role of Brasset, the butler. I’ll be back home this weekend, and can look for the libretto, but I’m not very confident, it was several moves ago. I do have my book for Our Town , but I was the lead in that.
