Sorry, don’t have a picture. I’m looking to find interior doors, with the knobs in the center of the doors. These were popular in the 1950’s-and I like the look. I can’t seem to find them anywhere-anybody know where I should look?
My parents had a house built in 1958, and it had a doorknob in the center. There was a TV show at the time that had a center-knob front door, and somehow I talked Dad into getting one for our house. I was 9.
The trick is not the door, but the lockset. It was a standard Schlage lockset, but there’s an extension piece to connect the lock to the latch. You’ll need a solid or cored door, and a carpenter who’s good enough to drill all the way to the center of the door.
What style of door?
Plain panel, louvered, etc.
Knob functional with latch?
If they are your heart’s desire a custom millwork shop could make them to order/specifications. No problem but $.
