He’s a blues rocker discovered by BB King… good stuff…
Welcome to the SDMB, drumfun101. I’m moving your thread to Cafe Society, which is where we have discussions of music, the arts, and numerous other creative endeavors. You can read our forum descriptions here, and some rules and guidelines for life here at the Dope in our ATMB (About This Message Board) forum. They’ll help you get oriented and make your time here more pleasant.
Again, welcome!

word.
Well, will WordMan do?
Yeah - a few of us Dopers do. You might do a search within Cafe Society…
he is a great guitarist - regularly featured in the guitar mags, so I get exposed to him more than I listen to him. But there is a great bit at the beginning of the documentary **Tom Dowd: The Language of Music **(essential viewing - he was the engineer for Atlantic records, discovered the Allmans and Skynyrd, etc.) where Joe B discusses finding Dowd to produce his (Joe’s) record. And they cut to Joe just smokin’ on a vintage Gibson ES-330 - just amazing…
I like him a lot. He’s the rare guitarists that the both the guitar nerds and laymen like myself can enjoy. Plus, his cover of Sloe Ginis a revelation.
This is out of print now, but no reason you shouldn’t get a chance to hear it. This is “Smokin” Joe’s band circa 1994 (when he was still a minor)
Bloodline - Since You’re Gone
And this is a clip from the following year with (mostly) the same band
Bloodline - The Storm
Good stuff! Thank you for starting this thread. I’d like to share a studio version of “Stop”.
“Stop” is one of my favorites as well. Those clips of the young joe B were awesome, thank you.
I also have a link to a free download of Blue and Evil. Just type in “forum” at checkout.
Hey Breign, is Joe B singing on that track “Since You’re Gone??”
Here is joe at 12 years old with Danny Gatton. He’s a pretty slick lil booger!
I’ve seen that link before - pretty awesome! He looks exactly the same… lol
Here is a linkto a documentary about Joe B on youtube - altogether it is maybe 20 - 30 minutes, but is a great insight to his background as a young phenom…
wow that was an old video lol Len’s mustache/mullet combo is classic haha
Still going strong. Here he is with an orchestra. Awesome!
