Anybody playing Fall Guys?

It’s a cute little cartoon/Japanese game show/battle royale that is the darling of the you tuber channels at the moment. It is good bit of mindless chaotic fun, that can’t be taken seriously.

It’s still pre-release, so servers are still behind the player load at the moment.

I’ve played it a fair bit today as it was given away ‘free’ to paying Playstation Plus customers earlier this week. Weirdly addictive partly because failure is still fun, and you can jump straight back into the next game. It does capture the feel of a stupid gameshow really well, and I can see myself going back to it as I might with a casual mobile game (if I was into that sort of thing).

I’ve tried to casually play it (I got it free with the PS+ sub like @staggerlee), but I’ve found already people hanging around at the end of the courses deliberately trying to grief and get in people’s way. It may well be part of the game, but it’s massively put me off, as it’s only going to get worse.

I’ve noticed people hanging around near the finish line, but not actually blocking it; I thought maybe they were waiting on their online friends to catch up? Though I’m not sure what the point would be…

As a single-player game this would have extremely limited appeal - but it seems very novel to have dozens of players trying to navigate physics-based platforming simultaneously.

I preordered copies for my wife and myself.

There are people who can keep their cool when some random other player bumbles into them and both parties fall over. I am not one of those people. I should not be dropping long strings of profanity at a game that’s so light and cheerful.
