Anybody use HiJack This?

A have a friend who is currently being bombarded with popups. Not the kind you get when you go to a specific website, but the kind you get when you have adware/spyware. He runs Spybot, Adaware SE, & MS Anti-Spyware Beta, but they find nothing (nor does his anti-virus software). I am positive he has some kind of crapware infesting his system.

I found a site that analyzes HJT logs and sent him the link. I downloaded HJT, too and posted my first log. It doesn’t look anywhere near as complicated as the ones I see in their forums!

Do you use HJT and have you had success with it?

HJT is a good program, but it’s dangerous in the wrong hands.

If the programs he’s using now haven’t solved the problem, I’d advise him to back-up his important data and re-format.

That’s what I told him. Like me, he hates to have to do this. I figured he could run HJT and post a log. If he doesn’t feel comfortable trying to fix things, he can still go that route.
