Anybody used CreateSpace?

I had an editing job, and at the end of it the client asked me if it was formatted so he could put it on (or through) CreateSpace.

Not having done this, I had no idea what to do. I’ve heard it’s easy, but I’ve only heard that from amazon.com, now that I think of it.

He wants it as a Kindle book, but he also wants to print out paper copies of it, and I guess CreateSpace does POD. He thought we might have to add some extra pages.

All I know is when a book is traditionally printed and bound, it uses signatures that have to be a certain number of pages. It’s been years since I spec’d a book for this but I remember there was a minimum and a maximum, and what you wanted was to kind of average them out. But I have no idea if it’s the same if you’re publishing POD.

If anybody can advise, please do!

yes they do POD but I can’t say much more about them.
Lulu.com is similar to create space but they are not tied into Amazon so I don’t think they can make your book a Kindle book.

I am also investigating Amazon’s createspace now, on behalf of a neighbor who has written a book and wishes to make it available on Amazon in electronic and print formats. I’m just looking for an overview of the process to clear up our confusion on how a createspace account meshes with an Amazon seller account. IIUC, once the createspace account is set up and book content uploaded, it will automatically be “listed” on Amazon and they will make copies as they are purchased(?) I think part of our confusion is because he had started down the road of creating his own website to market/sell the book and was planning to have some copies printed to fulfill orders; then decided to list it on Amazon thinking he would have to print and ship inventory copies of the book to them to sell; and now trying to back up to go the createspace route. I’ll keep googling but any pointers are much appreciated…
