I watched it at the FOX site a few weeks ago and I know exactly what you are talking about. My husband heard me say, “Oh hell no, there is NO WAY they are speeding out of the Quarter and end up under the interstate, COME ON!” He was cracking up laughing.
It was about what I expected, a pretty silly cop show that happens to be set in post-Katrina New Orleans. No one’s accent was too egregious except for the lieutenant’s and the Voodoo Realty chick’s. Cole Hauser is egregiously HOTT – damn, that man is fine – but his character’s back story is hilariously unbelievable. I mean, my willing suspension of disbelief smacked back in my face and hurt my nose on that one. I really really like Anthony Anderson in his role and I hope the rest of the squad gets something to do. I actually got a little teary and upset at the bits about his former partner. I hope they don’t do a lot of flashback scenes to what happened during the immediate Katrina stuff, I really can’t deal with that.
Actually, that was one of the most realistic parts for me. We got a lot of that down here these days, hon.
I realise that, but at a complete absence of any other emotion? Fact is, I realised I was pretty much going to hate him in the first 10 minutes when he went and broke his neighoburs “For Sale” sign. That was a really assholish thing to do, eventual plot point or not.
Aw, he had some sweet moments with his kid and some sexy stuff with his wife, too. But I do see your point. It’s only the first episode, I hope the writing improves, I like the actor.
