I don’t recall seeing any beaches on the Yellowknife side, but the Hay River side has a nice one that we visited. I have to think there are all kinds of recreation going on on the Great Slave Lake - it’s an inland ocean, basically.
It’s what a local called it when I visited. I was a little puzzled by his reference until I drove it myself.
As you drive Franklin Avenue from downtown to Old Town, the road is not flat. It’s not bumpy either, but it does go up and down a series of gentle hills. Even at the speed limit, it’s a little like riding a roller coaster. Whee!
Going home and tried to post some photos to Flickr, but had some trouble with the Calgary airport wi-fi. Will try when I’m home.
In the meantime I’m in the Molson bar at the airport, watching to see if the Bombers can pull it together agains the Stamps - so far the answer is “no”.
