I’m not fond of “trophy mounts”, but I’ve worked many places as a naturalist and the taxidermy is a way to show folks the critters when the live ones are being shy. They are really good for showing people the relative sizes of various animals.
I know for a fact, though, that none of those animals were shot for sport, so I guess they don’t bother me as much. In fact, I’ve put at least three critters in the Nature Center freezer this year!

Well, yeah, I meant after taking the good parts, if any. 
I have abso-frickin’-lutely no desire to see my pets stuffed, and Himself and I have a constant battle about him wanting to kill a deer and put the mounted head over my sofa that I lay on to watch tv and relax! The skull/horns mount doesn’t bother me too much, I guess. No eyes to watch me with. ::shudder::
