Maybe if Farting in the bathtub or Running around the block were events…
Nah, not even then.

'84 Olympics? '88 Olympics? There wasn’t one in '86.
Yeah, not a thrilling sport but what pisses me off about that is the IOC considers is a *ladies *sport, and won’t allow men. Huh? It’s 2016! I know you won’t believe me but I looked it up. There is a men’s synchronized swimming sport. There really is!
See how little he cares?
Good point.
At best, I’ll glance at a few results during a Games. This year… other than the headline stuff about Biles and Phelps, nada. Not having any kind of live TV makes it pretty much impossible to watch the events.
I could not care less about the Olympics.
This time around I’ve stopped for a second or two in the lounge at work to see what event is on TV, but haven’t bothered actually seeking out any live coverage.
My favorite event is “Guess what ‘organic molecules’ are growing in the divers’ murky green pool”.
Love the Olympics, it gives me respite from election coverage and other things while many shows are still on Summer break.
Now I don’t watch all events, and too much of it is tiring. I can’t also stand the focus on all American athletes only. I admire Michael Phelps and his achievements, but I don’t need nor want to see him hours on end in a single day. NBC should lose their rights to broadcasting the Olympics, their coverage sucks. They should show other sport events also. And no commerciasl during the opening ceremony and parade of nations.
And if Matt Lauer is fired, all the better. Other than that I do not mind the Olympics and find it interesting. To not like it to me is like disliking music or sex or eating delicious foods.
By the way, Bravo also shows Olympics during the day, and by night they go back tot their endless reality tv junk.
Hmmm… they were in LA, so I guess that makes it the '84 games. Can I call moded on myself?
I looked it up. I agree, Men’s Synchro is awesome!
I could care less about the olympics.
Don’t care at all. I used to a little bit, but between the packaging of stories, not liking some of the announcers, and not actually caring about the most of the sports, I don’t bother. Also, it’s not as special now that there are olympics every other year. I get that one is winter and one is summer, but it’s just too often for me to find it special.
I’ve needed this word in my life. Thank you!
Love the soccer, loots of it this year.
Never been much interested in judged events, that is and has always been corrupt.
Shooting or any individual event where personality does not come into it I like… Win a race, fat lady on the side can’t screw you.
The actual games are great, the politics, the media and did I say ‘The Media’ are what is wrong with any sport.
And the corrupt Olympic committee …l… X 42
Couldn’t care less if gymnastics is judged or not, I love watching those monkeys do that amazing shit they do.
Not interested, haven’'t been for years.
I did see a video of the Simone who does gymnastics, she’s pretty impressive. Not impressive enough to make me want to watch though.
I have never really had an interest in the Olympics. The last time I actually watched an event was the women’s gymnastic finals in 1996. I was in a hotel bar in Wichita Kansas (back when I had glamorous and exotic travel for work) and a bunch of Japanese business men came in and wanted to watch. I struck up a conversation with a couple of them and ended up staying to watch with them. I have to admit it was a hoot as they were all cheering for the USA team. Plus they were buying the beer.
“Gymnasty” by National Lampoon (Probably NSFW)
I have the exact same 0 interest that I always have in the Olympics. I am so glad cable exists, so I can fully ignore them. When you get only five channels, and the Olympics is constantly on one, you can’t ignore them. It’s time to go to the library, find a really thick book, and hole up.
The only time I had the slightest interest at all was when an acquaintance of mine, with whom I was in a play in high school, had a sister who went to the Olympics. I was satisfied to read about her in the papers, though.
