Anyone else notice the trash during the OSU @ Hawai'i football game?

Last night (Saturday), I was flipping through the channels and came upon the Oregon State @ Hawai’i football game. It was about midway through the second quarter. The thing that was notable about the game was the extreme amount of trash, litter, refuse, whatnot on the playing field. I don’t mean the stray scrap of paper. I mean, entire boxes, large pieces of paper and cardboard, etc. It was disgusting. There was one play where a player’s face was shoved into what appeared to be discarded stadium nachos. I was concerned for the player’s safety, with so much junk around. A player could easily slip or be tripped up by the trash. I’ve never seen a football game played in such poor conditions. It was really gross.

Was there a particular reason the field was in such poor shape? Was there a riot before the game began? Did some unusual weather blow all the loose items out of the stands? Was the custodial service on strike? Did the TV announcers ever mention it? Is this typical for Hawai’i?

 The winds have been gusting this back week. Just recently, a sail on a catamaran broke off and killed someone! :frowning:

I’m sorry to hear that. The winds seemed a bit blustry on TV, but the amount of trash was just enormous. I was amazed.

I’ve never been to Hawaii, but I imagine it must be a fascinating place to visit and stay.

You never saw a baseball game when the Giants played at Candestick Park? The winds there would blow all sorts of stuff on the field.

Fans at LA Angels games used to bring tortillas to the games and sail them onto the field like frisbees, until they were banned.
