Anyone else playing Just Cause 2?

I picked up a copy of Just Cause 2 while I was on holiday recently, and I have to say it’s a lot of fun- besides the whole “Destablising a South-East Asian Country And Blowing Stuff Up” aspect, it doesn’t take itself too seriously and it’s thoroughly awesome doing impractical stuff like grappling-hooking a passing enemy helicopter, pulling yourself onto the nose, shooting everyone in the chopper, beating the stuffing out of the pilot, throwing him out, taking control of the chopper, flying around blowing stuff up until the airforce comes after you, then bailing out and grappling-hooking onto a nearby car and parasailing away whilst being chased by guys on motorbikes.

There’s a plot in there somewhere too, but I’m having a lot more fun with Just Cause 2 than I have with any other GTA-style game, and that includes GTA 3.

Anyone else out there having fun on the Island of Panau?

I played it a few months ago, fun stuff!

I’ve played a lot of it. I stopped before the last story mission and have almost done all of the side missions, half the races, 3/4 of the Colonels, and maybe 100 settlements complete. Fun casual game with lots of pretty explosions (and scenery). I wish vehicles handled better, but I only drive when I am racing.

I was playing it last month then Red Dead Redemption came out, so it’s shelved for the time being.

I like it so far. It’s stupid fun and being Malaysian, I get a giggle at the place names. They are all in Malay and some of them are hilarious. Especially the island’s name. ‘Panau’ is a type of minor skin disease (don’t know what it’s called in English).

I’ve been learning Malay for a few months now (having visited Malaysia a couple of times now) and the place names gave me a smile, too. That and some of the supporting characters putting the Singaporean “Lah” in places, too, lah. :stuck_out_tongue: Whoever the design team are, they obviously know South-East Asia pretty well.

Definitely a fun game, though. I fell about laughing when your character was suddenly called upon to face Ninjas for no particular reason.

I was there for the first one. I don’t need to go through that again.

With Just Cause 3 on the horizon, I got back into Just Cause 2 and realized how much there’s left in Mercenary Mode. Mainly, I goof around. Managed to drive a Raider from Kem Jalan Merpati to Pemainan Racun but none of the Reapers wanted to man the gun!

Also performed a successful take off & landing in the Leopard. Wasn’t able to take off in the Bering, though; it drifted off the runway before I could successfully hijack.
