Anyone else read the webcomic You Damn Kid?

I used to read this regularly, but got away from it a couple years ago. Well, I came across an old bookmark, and now I’m giggling my way through them again. Some of them are really funny.

Anyone else read this?
Warning-if you peruse the archives of the comic at work, be warned that occasionally one will feature bare bewbs.

I have not, but I have been on the lookout for a new webcomic with a deep archive.

Thank you, I think this will work nicely for now.

You can’t start a thread about You Damn Kid and not link to Frog Rocket Wiener.

Yeah, I love YDK.

Unfortunately, he’s not posting the new ones online anymore. As far as I know, they can only be found in Milwaukee’s “Shepherd Express”, an alternative newspaper.

He did put out a number of the strips in book form a few years ago. It was called “Fun at AA meetings”, IIRC.

the littlest dildo

I used to read it regularly, as it made me laugh my ass off. But then he did a switch to a more “family friendly” version (or something like that) called “You Darn Kid”, and I just didn’t find it so funny anymore. Has that changed?

Oh yeah, that version died a quick and well-deserved death, and he returned to YDK rather quickly.

However, the author seems a bit of a gadfly, jumping from project to project in the past. This has on occasion slowed his output of YDK strips.

And now that new ones aren’t being posted online, I have to rely on getting my hands on the actual newspaper that carries them.

Still worth the effort, though. It seems he’s been putting out a new strip weekly for the Shepherd Express. At least I haven’t recognized any re-runs.

Ah, wonderful. I think that means I’ll take a trip back through the archives. Though I’m sad that new ones aren’t being posted online.

I once won one of the contests he ran. I was promised a real, honest-to-god YDK playing card. Never got anything though.

I haven’t read YDK for a couple of years. Last I heard, it was being optioned for a television show on either Fox or Adult Swim. Guess that never got off the ground?

He used to post regularly at his website about big TV deals about to be imminent, and stand by for further updates. Then… nothing.

He’d also neglect YDK for weeks or months at a time, to work on other strips, like “The Beevnicks” and a few even more odd than that.

I’d always wished he’d stuck to his core competency, YDK.

Yeah, I pretty much loathed The Beevnicks. That’s also part of why I wandered off.

Inspired by this thread, I went to the YDK website and downloaded all the YDK cartoons there.

Given the vagaries of his past websites, I didn’t have confidence that the cartoons would stay in place. He used to have a special web section devoted to YDK cartoons that hadn’t appeared in the paper, but that went missing a while back.

I also surfed the usenet about YDK, but found out no more about the strip or its future. In 2005, there were big plans afoot to have a YDK cartoon launched via Fox. But no word since, that I could locate.
