I don’t use a lot of the features of the b board, but all the things I did do seem harder now.
The whole way the new board is laid out just looks like it was designed for low attention span teenagers.
I may never completely go away, but I’ve cut back on my posting and reading by more than 75%.

No extra spam for me. No images in posts. And the avatars are maybe 1/2’x1/2". The ads are less obtrusive.
I got no idea how I’m so lucky - I used some theme or something out of the profile options that someone recommended to me, and it was good enough that I never tried any others - and didn’t try to customize in any way.
Hope things work out for everyone - whether you stay or go.
What would be the etiquette for leaving this place? Ghosting seems just a shade more classy than a “Buh Bye” (beg me to stay!) thread. But then at least a small handful of folks will notice the abrupt cessation of your posts and worry needlessly whether you’ve been captured by Congolese vampires and whisked away to the feed lots where you’re being forced to endure a deathless limbo somewhere between eternal undead and nutritious mortal, when in reality you’re just doing everyone a favor because over the past 15-20 years you’ve become less flip and more grouchy and less mentally acute than the imbecile you were when you joined, and with less to offer the community. And by “you” I mean “me”.
If you want to leave, just leave. If you later want to come back, come on back. If you’re really concerned that someone might worry if you stop posting for a while, make sure that you have an active and visible email in your profile.
All this, but your email doesn’t have to be visible. If you have a valid email address and set your preferences to send email when someone messages you, you’ll know if someone cares enough to check on you.
What you might want to be sure you avoid is saying you are going to leave, but then continuing to post. In the past, that has led to various creative suggestions.

Well, I’ve continued to post occasionally in the Death Pool and Wordle threads, but that’s about it these days. For all intents and purposes, I’ve been gone for nearly two years now.
The main thing for me is that so little text fits on my screen in the Discourse format, and that, together with the awkward way the format handles scrolling, makes it so much harder to follow an in-depth discussion here, and those discussions were the really great thing about this board.
I miss the Dope as it was. I realize that vBulletin was getting buggier and buggier, and would have likely stopped working altogether before too long. But I still wish a better replacement had been found.
It’s so weird to me, as Discourse finally made it possible for me to follow along on the iPhone, where before it was just too little and clumsy to navigate. Or were you using Tapatalk? Cuz I just used the web interface and didn’t like Tapatalk for one reason or another. I feel like one of the few who just doesn’t get the complaints about Discourse. I guess it’s in how you use it, but I really am baffled I have such an opposite experience. I’ll take it any day over vB.

I think Discourse is mostly a better phone experience, but a worse computer experience.
its not just discourse now windows 11 is out which I have on this new PC and articles on msn on edge s just a endless scroll also
