Chiming in-I also have not gotten a single additional spam piece since the conversion.
I certainly understand your irritation at being clogged up with spam but, I implore you, separate correlation from causation. That the glut of spam started at the same time as the Discourse conversion is coincidental, not that the conversion caused it.
Please stick around for awhile. You contribute to the conversation. I floundered a bit the first few times after the conversion, each visit since has been better by huge leaps and bounds.

I’m 100 % sure that the spam doesn’t come from the SDMB. It would be suicidal to flood the users’ email with spam from this source, and I can’t imagine that any of TPTB would be so dumb.
I’ve never had spam that I could attribute to the SDMB, either on the old site or this one.
Well, I won’t give up on the joint. Not after Jenny put all that work and love and effort into it.

I actually have gotten more spam than usual. Not a ton, but a distinct uptick. It’s all been to an email address that this board doesn’t know about, though, not a single spam to this address. So maybe there’s just some new spam-ring out there, and they happen to have gotten hold of that address.
I agree that I’m certain it’s not related to the straight dope, though.
That WOULD make Jenny happy. And I’m really glad to hear it. I hope you find more pleasant ways to interact with the board.

I don’t think the way people post has changed much, but I do think the board feels different. Not better, not worse, just… different.

Not that I’m going anywhere, but that’s pretty cool! Can I ask about how much memory (space) it took for those files? You’ve got a lot more posts than I do so whatever space it took for you, my posts would be well within it. I don’t have that much storage to spare.
